Discovery Kingdom Preschool

Discovery Kingdom Preschool at Central is a non-profit, weekday, outreach ministry of Central’s Children’s Department. It is one of the oldest preschool programs in South Tulsa. Central first preschool class began in November of 1981.  We seek to provide the basic building blocks for your child’s future success socially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually through developmentally appropriate experiences. We seek to touch a child’s heart by modeling that faith in God through Jesus is a part of their lives every minute of every day.

Curriculum
Our children have the opportunity to participate in experiences daily that contribute to their overall growth and personal development. The classrooms carry out a monthly theme that enrich each child’s spiritual, intellectual, moral, emotional, social, and physical development. Recognizing that play is a preschooler’s work new concepts are explored through learning centers such as creative arts, cooking, listening, block building, water play, books, and science and math observations. Hands-on activities are explored each day to help the children learn things in their real world.

Our children are exposed to large motor activities both indoors and outdoors. Our indoor gym and outdoor playground allows for the children to experience free play and directed play.

Our preschoolers are exposed to the alphabet, colors, shapes, numbers, and letter sounds. Our teachers strive to meet each child’s learning style as they introduce these concepts.

Each child is encouraged to develop good character traits of showing self-control and respecting the feelings of others. Language skills are taught through our songs, finger plays, and stories.

The loving Christian atmosphere in our classrooms is a source of comfort for parents and a source of joy and security for our little ones. Songs, Bible stories, Christian fellowship, and prayer are part of each day.

Staff
Our staff has been carefully chosen to give loving, gentle care to your preschooler.  Our teachers have chosen to teach in this preschool because of their love of children and their enthusiasm for teaching preschoolers.  Some of our teachers are certified early childhood teachers, and all have experience with preschoolers.  Our teachers attend monthly planning meetings and continue to keep in touch with educational trends.  They are eager to visit with you.  Call to schedule an appointment.
